Lewes is located 5 miles north of Rehoboth Beach and borders the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Henlopen State Park and the Delaware Bay. It is 1 hour and 30 minutes from the Philadelphia Airport and 2 hours and 30 minutes to the Baltimore Washington Airport. 

The Laughing Gull is only 200 steps from the beach via a special path behind the house, or walk a few blocks over the canal bridge to the shops, restaurants and museums in downtown historic Lewes.
